It has been a very long and scary 20 months. I landed a full-time "j-o-b", which lasted all of 6 months. It was enough though to qualify me for unemployment benefits and extend my COBRA coverage. Talk about life style changes!!
Then a month ago yesterday, I received a call from a head-hunter for a temporary agency who had seen my resume on Monster.com. I am now working in a temporary position, for less money than I was making in 1996! and no benefits! I am still collecting a little bit from unemployment every two weeks. That should give you a good idea as to how pathetic my hourly rate is. I have my COBRA benefits for a bit longer. I'm praying a full-time position at a better pay rate with at least healthcare coverage will come out of this.
Not out of the woods yet, but I hope that's daylight I see and not a mirage.
I became unemployed after twelve years with my last employer. I am not eligible for unemployment benefits. My severance and savings are dwindling. I have been looking for administrative-support/personal assistant type work since October 2009 with no success. I am hoping to locate grant(s) to help with my mortgage and utilities until I am once again gainfully employed.
